I was at this forum, I thought it was very informative...when Howard Shanker was speaking. Hands down Howard knew the issues in CD 1 the best. I looked at his website, he is the only progressive running in this race!

Why should those who don't care enough to vote have a say in public policy and why should it be assumed that they are "No" votes? Obviously, they are "don't care enough to bother" votes.
This isn't about holding Cindy responsible for the crimes of her father, it's about asking who John McCain owes favors to. You know, like the people who financed his political career from the beginning.
Did you get lost again and mistake this for the Losertarian message board?

would make it virtually impossible to fund any public projects

Virtually impossible!
Virtually impossible!
Or would it just make it too difficult? Why shouldn't increased taxation require a majority of registered voters?
I am looking forward to watching the pretzels the one more government tax crowd bends themselves into when Proposition 105 passes in Arizona.
As for the comments on Cindy's father, why should anybody hold Cindy responsible for any but her own crimes?

SOS Brewer

In addition to the power she is trying to gain here over internet voting based on Uniformed Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA), she has the power to interpret other elections statutes and develop procedures that are not subject to public oversight. The only control over her authority is the Department of Justice that is also controlled by a Bush appointee. These rules are prescribed in an official instructions and procedures manual that is issued not later than thirty days prior to each election. Prior to its issuance, the manual is approved by the governor and the attorney general. The secretary of state submits the manual to the governor and the attorney general not fewer than ninety days before each election.
What we have seen is the partisan Secretary of State in other states make decisions that favor their party and candidate as with Katherine Harris and Kenneth Blackwell. This Secretary of State is operating in much the same vein. As we look to the future after this 2008 election, we need a major overhaul of the elections system with true public oversight. But now we need to stop this power play on the UOCAVA vote. Please contact the Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano as stated in the action step.

This Republican House candidate does support the Supreme Court ruling

Conservatives should line up behind the ancient writ of habeas corpus. It would have been scary had this gone the other way. Anyone with any knowledge of Anglo-Saxon legal history would have voted with the majority, given the facts of this case. Had Justice O'Connor still been on the bench, this decision would have been 6-3, not 5-4. The next President will likely select one or two new Justices - although I hope that good Republican, John Paul Stevens, can stay on the Court till he's 103 or so.

Saturdays vote

I don't think a relative had anything to do with the fact that the GOP of LD5 voted in favor of Tenney Allen (over Konopnicki) to replace Sen. Flake on the ballot the following day. Besides having a family member fill out the remainder of his term was just a rumor supposedly started by none other than Konopnicki to try and block Tenney Allen. It appears the party is tired of having its' elected representatives consistently switch hit for the left.

four consecutive terms in a chamber

"Arizona state senators and representatives are elected for two year terms and are limited to four consecutive terms in a chamber, though there is no limit on the total number of terms."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A...
So state senators and representives can simply flip over to the other chamber once they have served four terms and then they can flip back!

The petition carriers are paid by signature

They probably care less than nothing about the things they are collecting signatures for, but they do care about the number of signatures they gather and they usually are collecting signatures for more than one thing. Simply inform them that you will sign NONE of their petitions because they are collecting signatures for ACRI. They may just have an economic incentive to drop this initiative from their collection if enough people do this.
